1st Annual Medication Take Back Initiative
September 25, 2010

September 13, 2010 (Midland) — The Midland Coalition in partnership with the DEA, Midland Police Department, Medical Center Pharmacy, City of Midland, Crimestoppers, Keep Midland Beautiful, Texas 211, West Texas Poison Control Center, Midland Memorial Hospital, PDAP, and other community partners will be conducting the first medication take back initiative for Midland. This event will be held on Saturday, September 25th from 10AM-2PM in the parking lot of the Medical Center Pharmacy located at 3510 N. Midkiff.

This will be a drive through, drop off operation; you will not even have to get out of your vehicle. This program will allow a free safe opportunity for anyone to bring any medications that are expired or no longer needed to treat illnesses for proper disposal. This includes prescription medications (pills, liquids, creams), over the counter meds (pills, liquids, creams), pet medications, vitamins, nebulizer solutions, medication supplies, and inhalers. These medications need to be brought in the original containers if possible. The identification information will be removed from them when they are collected and this information will be destroyed and the containers will be recycled by Keep Midland Beautiful.

Items that will not be collected at this event are:

  • Oxygen tanks
  • Nebulizer machines
  • IV bags
  • No syringes
  • No significant amounts of medications from physician offices, clinics, and hospitals.
