CLEANUPS:

  • 760 organized cleanups
  • 30,396 total volunteer hours
  • 373 total tons of trash/debris removed through cleanups
  • 4,623 tons of large items removed from alleyways
  • 6,514 total number of participants in the Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off, Make A Difference Day Annual Cleanup & Pick Up Some Trash for Cash
  • Over 208 tons of trash/debris removed at the Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off, Make A Difference Day Annual Cleanup & Pick Up Some Trash for Cash
  • 89 Adopt-A-Spot groups donated 5,024 hours & removed over 14 tons of litter

PUBLIC AWARENESS:

  • 2,304 television minutes
  • 3,966 radio minutes
  • 3,052 total column inches of newspaper/magazine
  • 40,000 total number of brochures/pamphlets distributed regarding mission items
  • 193 total number of workshops/talks/presentations
  • 159 total number of community events with KMB presence
  • 1,600 vehicle litter bags & 1,000 pocket ashtrays distributed at area outlets
  • Litter index delivers rating of 1.8 out of 4 (1 being best)
  • 13,247 “hits” to KMB's website

BEAUTIFICATION:

  • 123 trees planted at MARC homes, 6 MISD schools, City Tree Farm
  • Cost/Benefit analysis reveals a $1:7 return
  • Trio of Gardens shares gardening tips with over 800 citizens

WASTE REDUCTION:

  • 126 TONS of cardboard, aluminum, plastic, newsprint, and mixed paper
  • 750 cars bring recyclables to Texas Recycles Day (1 every 30 seconds)
  • Over 112 tons of computer EWaste kept from landfill at 2 recycling events
  • 95 attended meeting to teach backyard composting by TAES/KMB

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION:

  • 18 schools collect over 18 tons of phone books and aluminum for recycling
  • 300 Water Awareness Kits distributed to promote conservation
  • KTB & KAB Annual Conferences attended by Board Members & Staff
